He earned a PdD in Psychology from Stanford and was trained in psychoanalysis, but soon after was hired for tenure-track position at Harvard. But he became interested in psychedelics in the 1960s and was fired from Harvard and spent most of the rest of his life focused on spirituality. His teachings developed a large following. In 2021, Jon Hopkins released an album of psychedlic music (in a Jon Hopkins style, but no beats). This track from that album was a collaboration between Jon Hopkins and East Forest. | |

| Peter, Paul and Mary | 500 Miles | Peter, Paul and Mary | 1963 | One of the most famous American folk songs. Hedy West wrote this song around 1961, but it was undoubtedly based on the early Americana songs she learned growing up in a progressive, musical family in the northern part of the State of Georgia. Many versions of this song were recorded in the early 1960s - this version by Peter, Paul & Mary is one of the more well-known arrangements. In addition, a popular country version of this song was released in 1963 by Bobby Bare, with slightly different lyrics that significantly changes the emotion of the song. | |
